ELECTION 14 WARDS WITHIN UNLEY The City of Unley is divided into six wards: • Fullar ton; • Goodwood; • Clarence Park (formerly Goodwood South); • Parkside; • Unley; and • Unley Park. Each of the wards is represented by two Councillors and the Mayor. CHANGES TO WARDS AND BOUNDARIES The Local Government Act 1999 requires a Council to adjust its ward boundaries where the difference bet ween electors in wards is greater than 10 per cent. As a result of the most recent review the boundaries of Fullarton, Goodwood, Parkside, Unley and Unley Park Wards have changed slightly. Goodwood South Ward has changed name to Clarence Park Ward to better reflect its location. All election material you receive from the Council and the Electoral Commission will reflect these changes. HOW TO VOTE Voting for Local Government Elections is done via the post. You will be sent a kit of voting materials by post bet ween Monday 20 October and Friday 24 October 2014. In the post you will receive 1 A ballot paper to vote for the position of Mayor; 2 A ballot paper to vote for the positions of Ward Councillors; 3 A copy of each candidate’s profile; 4 An instruction sheet; 5 A Declaration Envelope; and 6 A reply paid envelope. Once you have completed your vote you need to 1 Place the ballot papers in the Declaration Envelope provided; 2 Seal the Declaration Envelope; 3 Sign the declaration on the tear off strip; 4 Where the vote is cast by a person authorised by a body corporate or group to vote on their behalf, the authorised person must sign the declaration. 5 Place the Declaration Envelope inside the Reply Paid Envelope; and 6 Post it to the State Electoral Commission or deliver it by hand to the Unley Civic Centre. Voting for Ward Councillors To ensure your vote counts you must consecutively number the candidates in the order of your preference, star ting with number 1. As each ward is represented by two councillors you must vote for at least two candidates in your ward. You can either Vote for your t wo preferred candidates only in order of preference. Do this by writing number 1 in the box that represents your first preference and the number 2 in the box that represents your second preference. or Vote for all candidates in order of preference. Do this by writing number 1 in the box that represents your first preference and consecutively number all the boxes that represent your order of preference. Only ballot papers with votes marked in the allocated boxes will be considered valid.
