UNLEYLIFE 21 New burial options for Centennial Park South Australia’s largest cemetery is addressing the state’s future burial needs, with more than 15 500 new burial spaces to be created as part of Centennial Park ’s 2015-2030 Future Concepts plan. The Future Concepts plan will guide the development of Centennial Park over the nex t 20 years. Increased choice for burial options including full monumentation, grander headstones, a mausoleum, family crypts and the possibility of a natural burial ground have been suggested as par t of the plan. The overall visitor experience will also be enhanced through the potential development of a cafe and alfresco dining area, florist, children’s playground and themed walkways. Centennial Park Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Elliott says the plan responds to community demand and will provide South Australians with greater choice in burial and memorial options. “ W ithout it, Centennial Park will reach full capacity for first-time burials within the next 20 years. “ T he possible addition of a cafe and florist with alfresco dining area and children’s playground would allow people to enjoy a coffee and cake with family and friends after at tending a funeral service or visiting the site of a loved one,” says Mr Elliott. Works have already commenced on a new burial area that will create up to 800 new spaces. The Future Concepts plan will be rolled out over 20 years, under taken in carefully planned stages and is intended to be flexible. Many developments will initially be implemented on a small scale while demand is gauged. The exhibition is part of the 2015 Fringe Festival and will run until Sunday 15 March 2015. The Adelaide Potters’ Club is located at 84 Edmund Avenue, Unley. For more information phone 8373 0483.
