UNLEYLIFE 07 “ W hen I was growing up it was all about getting outdoors, getting dirty and enjoying the wide open spaces Adelaide is so famous for,” he says. “ T here is no better place than Unley to take the family outdoors. Everything is close, convenient and there are a number of activities to get involved in. We especially love going to Orphanage Park, Millswood Bowling Club and watching the Saints play at Goodwood Oval.” John Wilkinson says research (Heart Foundation 2014) demonstrates that our children’s play habits have dramatically shifted to technology and indoor activities over the past few decades. “ We are really trying to make Unley a shining light in regards to turning this trend around and ensuring the health and wellbeing of our next generation is our number one priority,“ says John. “ We also want to showcase the City of Unley as a great place to lead a healthy lifestyle. We will engage with the community and seek feedback on how we can continually improve the program, as well as Council’s facilities and services.” The Active Unley program promises something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. The aim is to promote new and existing oppor tunities and encourage everyone to think about their health and take action.
