Fullarton Park Community Centre turns 40 22 21 THINGS TODOIN UNLEY 13 20 14 15 21 16 19 17 18 We’ll provide the entertainment; you provide the bean bag at the ‘Ignite Unley’ outdoor movie series, held in various parks from November to February. In April 2016, the Fullarton Park Community Centre will celebrate its 40th birthday. Since 1976, the Centre has played an integral role in the City of Unley and continues to offer a wide range of programs and services today. From upholstery, macramé, spinning and cur tain making to name just a few from the early days, to Mah Jong, children’s ballet, Fullar ton Senior Citizens Club, yoga and more, the Centre has impacted many lives over the years is eager to share the celebrations with the whole community. Locals will be able to learn about the history through a timeline and montage in the grounds, as well as through a history booklet filled with memories from the early days through to now. With so much on offer and such a wide variety for all, the Council and team at the Fullarton Park Community Centre are excited to involve the entire community in this special event. Time really does fly, but if anyone can put on a celebration, it is the Fullarton Park Community Centre and the Unley community. After all, they have been doing this for 40 years now! Stretch those muscles with yoga at the Unley Swimming Centre, Ethel Street, Forestville, held from October to April. Man’s best friend needs some exercise too! Take your dog to one of our great parks. More details regarding off-leash times can be found on Council’s website. Open the lid to discover what’s inside the new ‘ Toy Boxes’, at Ridge Park, Village Green, Soutar Park and Forestville Reserve. Active Unley is Council’s new health and wellbeing initiative aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles while providing opportunities for the community to get outdoors and participate in physical activity. Get active by • Checking off some of the items on our list of 21 things to do in Unley (see page 21) • Follow the City of Unley facebook page for regular tips and ideas - #activeunley •Pick up an Active Unley passport from any Council facility, collect stamps from four participating local recreation facilities and go in the draw to WIN! Walk Windsor Street trail from Fern Avenue Reserve to Unley Road and observe the native plants along the way. Many of our parks have a BBQ and toilet facilities available. Why not try a cooked breakfast to star t the day? Keep the kids entertained with the playground and a sausage sizzle whilst you enjoy watching the Goodwood Cricket Club in action at Goodwood Oval, Curzon Avenue, Millswood. CUT ME OUT, POP ME ON THE FRIDGE, AND SEE HOW MANY THINGS YOU CAN TICK OFF THE LIST.
