Happy Neighbour Day! Love thy neighbour The City of Unley’s 2016 Neighbour Day initiatives are designed to celebrate community and support residents to build stronger, more resilient neighbourhoods. Founded on the premise that good relationships with others make positive changes to communities, Neighbour Day is a nation-wide celebration of community held annually on the last Sunday of March. The City of Unley is encouraging residents to use any day during March as a time to acknowledge and thank their neighbour. Myrtle Bank resident Madhavi Nawana Parker is already thinking about how to get her family involved. “Neighbour Day is an excellent oppor tunity for people who don’t know each other to get together. It really builds social connection, which is very important to developing resilience, especially when it embraces children and the elderly,” says Madhavi. “It’s great to get the kids involved, and random acts of kindness are an easy idea for families. We might even surprise our neighbours with some flowers or garden produce!” • Introduce yourself! Cut out our greeting card template below and use it to say hello • Enter your neighbour into the “Great Neighbour Promotion” for their chance to win a gift basket, details at City of Unley venues and on the Council website • Be a great neighbour!
