UNLEYLIFE 21 Thousands pour into Coffee Fiesta The Soldiers Memorial Gardens were buzzing with thousands of revellers getting their caffeine fix at the City of Unley’s fourth-annual Double Shot Coffee Fiesta on Sunday 5 November. More than 10,350 coffee enthusiasts indulged in coffee blends and gourmet food from all over the world while enjoying beautiful weather and an eclectic mix of live music. Local businesses Cotto Espresso, Trouble & Strife, Nutrition Republic, Gateaux 259, Hustle Coffee and Candela Latin American Food were among the stallholders showcasing their delicious food and drink on the day. Major sponsors Complete Café Services and Monastery Coffee offered free interactive workshops teaching participants about where their cof fee comes from and how to make the best brew. Meanwhile local baristas went head to head in the inaugural Latte Art Smackdown, competing for the illustrious title of Double Shot’s Barista Legend. Festival-goers were also invited to try their hand with one lucky contestant winning a trip to the Melbourne International Coffee Expo thanks to Perchalla and Turner Travel Associates on King William Road. Across the road in the Unley Town Hall, SA and WA’s top baristas battled it out at the Australian Specialty Coffee Association’s (ASCA’s) Western Region Championships. Adam Metelmann was named the Western Region Barista Champion, Georgina Lumb won the Western Region Latte Art Championship, Ru Teow was the Western Region Cup Tasting Champion and Heath Dalziel won the Western Region Brewer’s Cup.
