Unley Publications : Unley Life Winter 2018
We’re heading into winter and Unley will be alive and well with many opportunities for residents to get out and about and experience the benefits of living in Unley. Local residents had great success with the State Government’s Fund My Neighbourhood initiative, which we tell you about in this issue of Unley Life. I congratulate the energetic people behind these projects and those who suppor ted them by voting online to help secure $455,000 in State Government funding for four great projects on community land in the City of Unley. Design King William is well underway. I encourage you to visit designkingwilliam.com or drop into our shopfront at 183-185 King William Road to see the progress of the community consultation for a revamped King William Road. While there, why not drop into the new French-inspired desser t café, St Louis. Bon Appétit! And further down the road there’s a new old favourite, Dymocks. We welcome them to our city also. Barrow & Bench Mitre 10 has just celebrated its 40th anniversary. They have a strong community focus, giving great advice and services in store, and sponsorship to the wider community. The very popular Gilles Street Market has moved to Unley! Now named Gilles AT THE GROUNDS the market will be situated alongside the prestigious Adelaide Farmers Market at the Adelaide Showgrounds. More enterprise, this time on a very personal scale, has come from Unley dog walker Kirsty King. While you’re at work, she’ll pick up your pooch and give it a wonderful time in one of Unley’s many dog friendly parks – one of the attractions that brought Ms King to our city. Unley Oval has been really buzzing this season with the early success of the Sturt Football Club. After last season’s success in winning the ‘triple crown’, Premierships in League, Reserves and Under 18’s, the Club is reaching out to residents with added features at home games. Watch out for the Indigenous Round (July 14), Bluey’s Birthday Party (July 29) and Markets2Markets (August 18). And last of all, but very far from least, let’s congratulate the young champions from Goodwood Cricket Club. Their Under 14 team rose from being bottom of the ladder last year to winning this year’s Premiership, and the Under 17s won their third consecutive Premiership. See you out and about in Unley!
